This course is taught by an NRA certified instructor with a law enforcement and competitive shooting sports background that provides hands-on training for the new or novice revolver owner that teaches the basic firearms knowledge necessary to safely handle, load, fire, and maintain most types of revolvers.
Course Overview:
This course is the first step in our foundational revolver training series and covers the proper methods for maintaining your revolver, performing safety checks, identifying parts for wear, cleaning techniques, building good foundational marksmanship skills, and applying those techniques with a 50-round course of fire.
There is ample opportunity in the classroom and range to achieve the desired practical knowledge in this casual and stress-free learning environment. You’ll find this course to suit your revolver knowledge and needs.
The course duration is approximately 2 hours, depending on class size and number of questions asked, with a 1-hour live fire familiarization session.
Course Outline:
· Overview of the universal firearms safety rules.
· Administrative in-service loading and unloading of a revolver.
· Basic marksmanship fundamentals (stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, breath control,
trigger control and follow through) for a revolver.
· Holster and speed loader selection.
· Selecting the right revolver grip and sights.
· Strong-hand and support-hand shooting techniques.
· Preventative maintenance (cleaning, maintenance, and inspection).
· Safe storage and security.
· After-action course review.
Practical Skill Exercise:
· Perform a revolver function check.
· Safely load and unload a revolver cylinder.
· Demonstrate safe storage and security of a revolver.
· Live fire revolver exercise.
Required Equipment: (Some items may be available to rent at the host location)
· Large or Small framed revolver. (Iron sight or Micro Optic equipped)
· Hearing protection (passive or electronic).
· Eye protection—wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses.
· Note taking material (notepad and pen/pencil).
· At least 2 revolver speed loaders.
· 50 rounds of range approved ammunition.
· Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid state ID or U.S. Government issued ID (Passport or
