Course Overview:
This course is taught by a factory and agency certified armorer with a law enforcement and competitive shooting sports background which is designed for the new or novice pistol owner that teaches the basic preventative maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of the modern semi-automatic pistol.
The course duration is approximately 1 1/2 hours with an interactive format, and students are encouraged to participate for a more informative experience.
Course Outline:
· Components and operation of the modern semi-automatic pistol.
· Disassembly and assembly of a semi-automatic pistol.
· Preventative maintenance and techniques for cleaning, maintaining, and inspecting your pistol.
· Selecting the proper cleaning materials for cleaning and maintenance.
· Trouble shooting mechanical issues.
· Mechanical safety/function check
Practical Skill Exercise:
· Perform a pistol function check.
· Perform administrative in-service loading and unloading of pistol.
Required Equipment:
· 1 semi-automatic pistol.
· 1 properly functioning pistol magazine.
· Eye protection—wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses.
· Latex gloves will be provided.
· Cleaning kits and materials will be provided for use.
· Note taking material (notepad and pen/pencil).
· Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid state ID or U.S. Government issued ID (Passport or
