Prerequisite:
There is no prerequisite for this course, but the client and instructor will converse prior to the beginning of the training session so that a lesson plan can be created and implemented for the best learning experience!
Course Overview:
This course is taught by an NRA certified instructor with a law enforcement and competitive shooting sports background and is designed for the new or novice firearms owner that teaches the basic firearms knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary for the safe handling, storage, maintenance, and operation of a firearm. This course is designed as a 1:1 private lesson plan that is very interactive that’s open to adults and youths, and the student is encouraged to participate for a more informative experience.
There is ample opportunity in the classroom and range to achieve the desired practical knowledge and you’ll find this course to be a safe and comfortable learning environment where you’ll gain the desired results you’re aspiring to achieve!
The course duration is approximately 3.5 hours, which includes a 2.5-hour live fire practical session.
Course Outline:
· Universal firearms safety rules.
· Components and operation of the semi-auto pistol, revolver, rifle, or shotgun (interactive dry
practice exercise).
· Types, components, and purposes of modern ammunition.
· Safe loading and unloading procedures.
· Safety concerns and practices while training.
· Basic marksmanship fundamentals (stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, breathe control,
trigger control, and follow-through).
· After-action course review.
Practical Skill Exercise:
· Demonstrate administrative in-service loading and unloading techniques of your firearm.
· Disassembly and assembly of your firearm for cleaning, maintenance, and inspection.
· Perform various live fire practical exercises designed for you demonstrating proper marksmanship
fundamentals.
Required Equipment: (Some items may be available to rent at the host location)
· A modern operating pistol, revolver, rifle, or shotgun equipped with an iron or optical sight. (22
caliber weapons are welcomed).
--Rental firearms may be available at location if available.
· (Hearing Protection) Two-way electronic communication is utilized between the student and
instructor.
· Eye protection—wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses.
· Note taking material (notepad and pen/pencil).
· Casual, comfortable clothing suitable for training in any weather.
· Closed toe shoes, footwear suitable for the range.
Depending on choice of firearm, please see ammunition requirements listed below:
· 200 rounds of range approved rifle ammunition. (No green tip, armor piercing, steel penetrator, or
tracer) or
· 200 rounds of range approved pistol ammunition or
· 60 rounds of 12-gauge range approved shotgun ammunition. (50 rounds of 00 buck and 10 rounds
of slug).
