This comprehensive course is part of our rifle training series for the student that wants to refine their existing rifle shooting skills and improve their deficiencies. This course emphasizes the breakdown of the fundamentals and the refinement of techniques through inductive teaching concepts.
Completion of our Basic Rifle Fundamentals course is required, or an equivalent course before you attend the Rifle Tune-Up course. The student MUST possess the knowledge and ability to physically demonstrate how to safely load, fire, and unload a semi-automatic rifle.
Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the required minimum skills for this specific course may be removed from the training. Course Overview:
This course is taught by an NRA certified instructor with a law enforcement and competitive rifle shooting sports background who provides a hands-on training environment for the intermediate to advance rifle owner who seek continued development, strengthen, and improve their rifle skills.
This course is interactive, requiring mental preparation, physical awareness, visual patience, and the students will be immersed in techniques that will aid in refining their existing rifle skills and exposing their deficiencies. The students will learn to develop and increase their mental, physical, and visual aptitude for improved, balanced, and efficient rifle fundamentals.
Instructor feedback is a critical element in this course and students will receive personal evaluations after each rifle practical skills exercise. This course includes a blending of several rifle training tools that aid in the development and improvement of rifle fundamentals.
There is ample opportunity in the classroom and range to achieve the desired practical knowledge in this casual, stress-free, and fun learning environment. You’ll find this course to be beneficial in refining your existing rifle skills and developing new and innovative techniques that will further enhance your firearms learning experience!
The course duration is approximately 4 hours, depending on class size and number of questions asked, which includes a 3-hour live fire practical session.
Course Outline:
· Overview of the universal firearms safety rules.
· Administrative in-service loading and unloading rifle/carbine techniques.
· Refining rifle/carbine marksmanship fundamentals.
· Trigger speed development techniques.
· Refining aiming techniques regarding optics.
· Alternative shooting positions.
· Target to target transitions.
· Preventative maintenance (cleaning, maintenance, and inspection).
· After-action course review.
Practical Skill Exercise:
· Perform a ready function check.
· Immediate action clearing exercise.
· Perform a target transition live fire exercise.
· Trigger speed drill.
· Perform various reload drills (emergency, tactical, magazine exchange).
· Rifle/pistol transitions.
· Final assessment drill, engagement speed and accuracy evaluation.
Required Equipment: (May be available to rent at the host location)
· Semi-auto rifle with iron or optical sight. (no 22 caliber rifles).
--Rental firearms may be available at location if available.
· Hearing protection (passive or electronic).
· Eye protection—wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses.
· Note taking material (notepad and pen/pencil).
· Reliable two-point sling. Contact us for additional questions.
· Rigid gun belt (1.5” or wider) along with a sturdy magazine pouch or pouches that can hold rifle
magazines securely.
· At least 3 rifle magazines.
· Full-size or carry size semi-automatic pistol. (Iron sight or Micro Optic equipped)
· At least 3 pistol magazines, along with a sturdy magazine pouch or pouches that can hold pistol
magazines securely.
· Outside the Waistband (OWB) Holster (strong-side only – no IWB, cross-draw, appendix, etc.) (No
Nylon, Cloth, or SERPA style holsters)—contact us for additional questions.
· Casual, comfortable clothing suitable for training in any weather.
· Closed toe shoes, footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning.
· Shooting gloves, Knee pads and Elbow pads (optional for student’s comfort level).
· Rifle mounted weapons light. (optional)
· 450 rounds of range approved rifle ammunition. (No green tip, armor piercing, steel penetrator, or
tracer)
· 150 rounds of range approved pistol ammunition.
· Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid state ID or U.S. Government issued ID (Passport or
